A Second Chance for Water: Rebuilding a Borehole for Our Community
Water is not just a resource for this community, it is dignity, health, and survival.
Several years ago, a borehole was drilled here with genuine hope. The project was born out of a personal partnership between a Maasai man from the community and a Canadian woman who mobilized support to make clean water possible. Unfortunately, when their relationship later broke down, the project suffered. The borehole equipment was removed, and over time the borehole itself became blocked with stones. When attempts were made years later to restore it, it was clear the borehole could no longer function, either due to the blockage or because it had dried up.
This failure was not due to lack of need or community support. It was a breakdown in continuity.
When the woman later returned and saw that the borehole was no longer working, she felt the weight of the situation and mobilized funds again. Equipment was purchased and is still available today, ready and functional. However, technical assessments show that restoring the old borehole is no longer viable.
That is why we are taking the responsible next step.
We are now working on a renewed water project to identify and drill a new borehole at a better, more sustainable location. The project is active. The intent is clear. The equipment is ready. What is needed now is the right technical guidance, partnerships, and financial support to complete the work properly and ensure long-term access to clean water.
We respectfully call upon the Narok County Government, particularly the departments responsible for water and natural resources to support this effort through technical assessment, site identification, and financial assistance where possible.

This project is not abandoned. It is paused, waiting for the right hands to help carry it forward.
