Step 1: Install XAMPP on Your Windows PC
XAMPP is a free program that creates a local server so you can run WordPress on your computer—no web hosting needed. It includes Apache (web server), MySQL (database), and PHP (programming language).
- Download XAMPP from apachefriends.org
- Run the installer and follow the setup prompts
- Once installed, launch XAMPP Control Panel

Step 2: Install WordPress Using XAMPP
- Start Apache and MySQL from the XAMPP Control Panel.
- Go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin in your browser. Click “Databases,” then create a new database, e.g. wordpress_test.
- Download WordPress from wordpress.org and extract the files.
- Place the WordPress folder in C:/xampp/htdocs/. You can rename the folder (e.g. mysite).
- Visit http://localhost/mysite in your browser. Follow the on-screen steps to connect to your database and set up WordPress.
- Don’t worry if some screens look technical—just follow each step and use “root” as the database user, leaving the password blank by default.
Step 3: Log into WordPress Dashboard
- After installation, go to http://localhost/mysite/wp-admin
- Enter the username and password you set during install
The WordPress dashboard gives you full control—add posts, media, plugins, or customize your site.
Step 4: Install Elementor Page Builder
- In the dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New
- Search “Elementor”
- Click Install, then Activate
Elementor lets you build pages visually—drag, drop, and create layouts without coding.
